Woman Arrested After Pursuit In Stolen U-Haul Truck

Jacob Dumas and another employee of Mr. Move were loading a 26 foot U-Haul truck near 18th and Cuming early Monday afternoon when the truck was stolen by a woman.

"We were getting ready for a job, we were loading everything in the back of the truck when the lady pulled off with the U-Haul with all of our stuff in it," Dumas says.  Dumas tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB he began following the truck and soon Omaha Police were chasing it.

The truck went down Dodge to 72nd Street and Police say the driver was obeying traffic signals and the speed limit.  Due to the high volume of traffic Police ended the pursuit.  "It continued northbound without police following it," says Sergeant Gerald Swanson.

Dumas says he followed the truck for about 45 minutes.  He says the woman finally pulled over near 73rd and Grant and sat on a bench and smoked a cigarette.  Officers in unmarked units heard the pursuit and arrived on the scene to arrest  the woman without incident.

Dumas says he's grateful now one was hurt and that he got all of his customers items back.
