A social media post about a serial rapist is being shared by hundreds of people around the metro, but Omaha Police say it isn't true.
The original post on the neighborhood website Nextdoor states:
"Women have been checking into UNMC because of sexual assault. The assailant is being dubbed as a serial rapist and has been attacking women near 40th and dodge. Everyone please be safe and let those who love and care about you, know where you are. Walk in group and don’t feel the need to walk by yourself in the dark. Be alert of suspicious people so we can help each other and the police be aware of this person."
According to police, there was a reported sexual assault in that area about a week-and-a-half ago, but there has not been a series of sexual assaults in that area. Police say if there is anyone that has been assaulted to report it to them immediately.
