Lincoln Police Identify Woman Killed During Home Invasion

Lincoln Police have identified the 36 year old mother and grandmother killed during a home invasion shooting. Authorities say Jessica Brandon was shot during a home invasion early Tuesday morning.

Officers were dispatched to a home near 19th and Fairfield around 3:45 for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, the woman's family was attempting to revive her. Lincoln Police officers took over CPR until Lincoln Fire and Rescue medic units could arrive. There were two other adults and four children in the home at the time of the incident.

Brandon's friends say she was a Lincoln Northeast "cheer mom" and always had a smile on her face. A Lincoln Northeast graduate, Brandon worked at Allstate Insurance. Friends say she would light up any room and had more friends than anyone could count, but most importantly, she cherished her family.

Lincoln Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister said the suspects were intruders who entered the home around 3:30, and that they believe this was not a random act. Bliemeister says there is no ongoing threat to the public, but did not release specific details of the investigation, saying only that they have identified persons of interest.

Bliemeister says an autopsy on Brandon is scheduled for Thursday and investigators urge anyone with surveillance footage from the area at the time of the crime to contact police.
