It was exactly two months ago when a plane crashed at the Millard Airport, killing an Omaha couple. On Friday afternoon firefighters rushed to the airport once again after a homemade plane made a hard landing.
"You prepare for the worst," says Acting Battalion Chief Jeff Andersen. This time the pilot and passenger were able to climb out on their own and neither one were injured. "He just came in low and slow and hit ground before the runway. Minor damage to the airplane."
The plane wound up with its nose in the ground. Kaitlyn Davis was driving by the airport around noon and saw the crash. "He was coming in to land and was wobbling all over the place and was really low over this fence," Davis says. "It was really scary and I wanted to make sure I watched it."
Davis pulled over and called 911. The crash two months ago killed 63 year old David Steier and his 61 year old wife Arlene.
