"Hot Lips" Guest Speaker At Veteran Honor Flight

On September 24th, 135 veterans will take part in an Honor Flight from Omaha to Washington D.C.  This is the first All-Female Veterans Flight with veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan taking part.  On this flight to D.C., all the veterans volunteered for service as women were not subject to the draft.  This flight includes two stops that were not included in previous flights, the Women's Memorials and the Pentagon.

Organizer Evonne Williams tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB all those taking part will attend a pre-flight dinner on Sunday, September 23rd.   The guest speaker is actress Loretta Switt.  Williams says, "The most famous Army nurse in the country, Major Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan will be at that pre-flight dinner.  That event is open to the public.

The price of the pre-flight dinner is $100 and it will be held at the Embassy Suites in La Vista starting at 6 p.m.

Patriotic Productions is also accepting donations online or by mail to fund the Honor Flight.  Williams says a $100 donation will buy a seat at the pre-flight dinner, $250 will sponsor the memorial wreath in D.C. and a $750 donation will sponsor a bus in Omaha.
