A metro firefighter is recovering after being injured while battling a blaze in La Vista Wednesday night.
Officials say a man was working on his car in one of the garages at the Shadow Ridge Apartments near 84th and Giles when it caught fire.
The man reportedly thought he had put the flame out, but the blaze quickly began to spread from one garage to another. Once the fire was contained, at least fourteen garages had been heavily damaged. The car the man was working on was totaled by the flames, another vehicle sustained light damage.
One firefighter suffered minor burns on his hands while battling the fire.
