Police Quickly Catch Teens Who Made Off With Tray Of Donuts

Three teenage boys got in to some trouble with the law after taking off with a tray of donuts from Hurts Donut in Lincoln.

At 4:30 Sunday morning, a Hurts Donut employee reported that three teens walked into the store while she was setting out donuts for the day. The boys walked over to a rack with several sheets of donuts, grabbed a tray with 24 donuts and fled the store on foot.

A Lincoln Police Officer was driving  southbound on 9th Street when he saw the three running with the tray. The employee flagged down the officer and told him that the teenagers had stolen the donuts from her.

The officer saw them get into a vehicle and he initiated a traffic stop. During the stop, the officer observed two 16 year olds in the backseat with the tray of donuts. All three were referred to the Lancaster County Attorney for theft and their parents were notified.

Police say one donut had a bite taken out of it and the rest were properly disposed of.
