Omaha Popcorn Shop Heavily Damaged By Fire

No one was injured after fire broke out Monday morning inside the Popcorn Shop near 84th and Frederick.

Firefighters got the call around 7:15, but Battalion Chief Ketih Main says they didn't see any smoke or flames when they arrived.  "The guys went up to the window and looked inside and saw smoke. They put their hands on the glass and it was hot."

Once inside Main says they found flames burning in a back storage room. "There's extensive damage to all their shelving, all their material and all of their popcorn," Main says.   He says there was minor smoke damage in two adjacent businesses, The Good Karma Dog Center and Nebraska Game and Parks office.

Their were animals inside at the time but they were not affected.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
