Two Iowa Men Busted With Marijuana And Cocaine In Omaha

Two Iowa men are behind bars in Omaha after being caught transporting a large amount of drugs. 

Just before 2:30 Wednesday morning, a Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy was patrolling Interstate 80 when he saw an eastbound Hyundai Tucson speeding near 42nd Street. The deputy tried to stop the SUV near 36th Street, but the vehicle continued before stopping in a parking lot near 24th & Deer Park Boulevard. 

When the deputy approached the vehicle he noticed a large black garbage bag in the back of the vehicle. When he made contact with the driver, the deputy immediately detected the odor of marijuana coming from the SUV.

During a search, multiple heat sealed bags of suspected marijuana were found in the trash bag. The deputy also located two bricks of what is believed to be cocaine and a number of containers of suspected hash. 

In all, more than 14 pounds of marijuana, 4.5 pounds of cocaine and 23 containers of hash were seized. The driver of the vehicle, 21 year old Maxwell Podgorski, and the passenger, 24 year old Jermal Brown, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, were transporting the drugs from Colorado to Iowa.

Podgorski and Brown were arrested and booked on charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Deliver Hash and Failure to Affix a Tax Stamp.
