Man Charged For Allegedly Using Fake ID To Buy Guns

An Omaha man appeared in Sarpy County court Monday morning accused of using a fake ID to buy handguns and then transferring or selling those weapons to someone else.

Eliezar Alcaraz is charged with three counts of false statement of ID with purchase or transfer of a handgun. Sarpy County prosecutors believe at least one of the guns was used in a shooting in Omaha on July 2.

Alcaraz's bail was set at $100,000. His preliminary hearing is set for August 7. Douglas County Human Resources confirmed that Alcaraz works for Douglas County Corrections.
