Omaha Police say a 40 year old bicyclist was seriously injured after colliding with a pickup near 28th and Dodge Sunday morning.
Investigators say 26 year old Francisco Castro-Hernandez was northbound on 28th in a Ford F150 around 9:00 a.m. He crossed Dodge to enter the North Freeway on-ramp as Jeremy Abboud entered the roadway eastbound and hit the side of the truck.
Police say Abboud was not wearing a helmet. He was transported to the hospital in serious condition with head and chest injuries.
Castro-Hernandez told police that he had a green light. Abboud could not be questioned due to his medical condition. His teenage son, who was following Abboud on his own bike, told officers that he didn't notice the color of the traffic signals or crossing signals.
Neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash
