Semi Catches Fire; Explodes On West Dodge Near 114th

It was a weenie roast early Saturday morning, but it wasn't over a campfire.

6 News reports that a semi, apparently hauling hot dogs, caught fire and burned on West Dodge near 114th Street raining down flaming debris on businesses below.

The burning vehicle was reported around 7:00 with the first emergency crews on the scene reporting the vehicle fully involved in flames.

Witness Lori Grenier took pictures and video of the inferno and tells 6 News she was driving by the scene on 114th Street at the time the fire began. She said she saw smoke coming from the cab and that was followed by two explosions, triggering the resulting fire.

Debris littered the ground beneath the overpass, there did not appear to be any fire damage to nearby structures. There was also no immediate indication of any injuries or cause for the fire.
