State Patrol Identifies Two People Killed In Pierce County Crash


The Nebraska State Patrol has released the names of the two people killed in a Pierce County crash Thursday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 12:45 when a Buick Enclave, driven by 36 year old Rebecca Fischer of Plainview, attempted to turn from the northbound lanes of Highway 81 onto westbound Highway 13, but was struck by a southbound semi.

Fischer was pronounced deceased at the scene. Three children were also in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Two of the children, four year old Lium Fischer and five year old Scarlett Fischer were taken to Faith Regional hospital in Norfolk. The third child, two year old Lara Fischer, was flown to Nebraska Medicine in Omaha. Lium Fischer passed away at the hospital. Both girls are both expected to survive.

The driver of the semi, 26 year old Tanner Albus of Decatur, was also transported to Faith Regional hospital in Norfolk. He suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The State Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
