Arrest Made As Omaha Firefighters Battle House Fire

Omaha firefighters had more than smoke, flames and extreme heat to deal with as they fought a fire at a home near 72nd and Wirt Thursday morning.

They got inside the home and quickly extinguishing the fire in a bedroom just before 9:00.  There was no one home at the time of the fire.

A person who lives in the house came home while police and firefighters were still on the scene. That person was then taken into custody for evaluation and arrested for possession of marijuana less than an ounce and obstruction.

The fire caused about $9,000 in damage and the cause is still under investigation
