A fourteen year old boy is recovering after being shot in the chest earlier this week.
Authorities were alerted to the shooting around 6:30 Monday night when officers were called to the hospital where the victim had gone to get treatment.
Investigators said the boy told them he had been walking near railroad tracks on the west side of Kearney when a car pulled up. The victim reportedly leaned into the vehicle as someone inside pulled a handgun and shot him in the chest.
The teen was able to walk to a relative's home and was taken to the hospital from there.
The suspect's vehicle is described as a black, newer model Nissan with gold and/or silver rims. Anyone with information should contact local law enforcement.
