Baker's Offers New Way To Grocery Shop

If you're a shopper at Baker's in midtown, be on the lookout for some big changes. New technology at the Baker's on Saddlecreek and Leavenworth puts the check out aisle in the palm of shoppers' hand.

The new Scan, Bag, Go devices and phone app allow customers to simply scan and bag products as they shop, which Kroger hopes that this will create a seamless shopping experience. Baker’s spokeswoman Sheila Lowrie spoke with 6 News about the new technology. “With every new product, service, and technology integration, Baker’s is redefining how our customers shop and imagining the grocery store of the future. We know customers are looking for added convenience, so we are excited to debut the latest way to shop for groceries – Scan, Bag, Go.”

Kroger says Scan, Bag, Go also creates a personalized experience for customers throughout their shopping trip, allowing them to view and download digital coupons, keep a running total of their order, and view the current week's sales ad.

After picking and scanning items customers visit a store's self-checkout area to provide payment. Kroger says it hopes to eventually allow customers to pay directly through the app. Scan, Bag, Go will be offered as an option alongside traditional checkout lanes staffed by associates, self-checkout, online ordering, and same-day curbside pickup.
