Ralston Fireworks Show Cancelled

When thunderstorms rolled through the metro Wednesday night, man-made fireworks had to take a back seat to Mother Nature's show. That included the big Ralston fireworks show that capped off a day of celebrating our nation's independence with over 40,000 revelers.

City officials say they got about five minutes into their show when they had to shut it down for the night for safety reasons. The plan was to re-schedule the show and move it to Thursday night, but now the show won't go on. Mayor Don Groesser tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB that the rain during Wednesday's show damaged the remaining fireworks and they will not be able to be shot off.

Groesser says the show has been postponed indefinitely and that they aren't sure if another show, with all new fireworks, will be planned.
