Lincoln Girl Injured By Fireworks, Mother Cited

A 6-year-old Lincoln girl suffered serious injuries in a fireworks accident Wednesday night and her mother has been cited for child neglect.

Emergency crews were called to the 2000 block of Breckenridge Drive shortly after 9 o'clock Wednesday night and found the child with a "significant injury to her hand."

Witnesses told investigators that the girl was holding a roman candle called the "Atomic Bomb" when it exploded. The device was designed to be placed in the ground prior to being ignited.

Police said the girl suffered partial amputations of three fingers.
