One person has died following a Tuesday morning train crash in Cass County.
Cass County officials say the driver of a dump truck died in the collision involving a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train and a dump truck near Ashland, Nebraska. Emergency crews were called to the scene just west of Horseshoe Lake around 8:00.
Authorities say the train was traveling westbound when it hit the northbound dump truck. The truck's driver, a 57 year old man with Kansas license plates, was killed in the crash. Investigators told 6 News it's unclear at this time if the driver was trying to beat the train or if he didn't see it.
