Now that the Fourth of July is over, Omaha Police will give residents a chance to turn in any unused fireworks, guns and ammunition with no questions asked during an amnesty event on Saturday.
"We'll even be accepting illegal fireworks," says Officer Michael Pecha. "People can drop off whatever they have and walk away with no worries.
There will be two drop off locations open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ralston Police will be assisting Omaha officers at Seymour Smith Park at 72nd and Harrison. The second drop off site will be at Omaha Fire Station No. 43 near 103rd and Fort.
Pecha says if you are bringing guns they should be unloaded ahead of time. Anyone who needs assistance with properly unloading a weapon should notify staff before removing it from their vehicle.
