Motorcyclist Dies After Short Pursuit With State Troopers

A motorcyclist has died after attempting to flee from law enforcement on Saturday night.

The Nebraska State Patrol says 40 year old Jeremiah Cummings, of Lincoln, lost control of his motorcycle on Highway 6 near Greenwood. Authorities say around 11:00, troopers attempted to pull Cummings over when they saw him traveling over 110 miles per hour on Interstate 80 in Lincoln.

A seven minute pursuit began when Cummings tried to evade the troopers. Cummings exited I-80 at Waverly and continued on Highway 6 through Waverly and into Cass County. When Cummings neared Greenwood, he lost control and crashed after reportedly hitting speeds over 120 MPH.

The trooper on scene began administering first aid and performing CPR, but Cummings was later pronounced dead.
