Omaha Park and Recreation Director Brook Bench says about 80-85 percent of NP Dodge Park is submerged after flooding from the Missouri River. "All of the soccer fields are under water, the whole campground is completely under water, the playground area is completely under water."
All of the roads in the park are also covered and there is no access to the marina. He says barring any additional heavy rains to the north it will be at least a week before the water recedes far enough to turn electricity back on.
"The crest has already taken place at about 29 feet and if the projections hold, by the middle of next week the river is going to drop between 5-6 feet," Bench says.
A number of soccer games and tournaments have already been canceled or moved to other locations.
