Firework Accident Leaves Man With Serious Injuries

Council Bluffs Police say a man suffered a serious hand injury while holding a firework on Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to a skate park near 1400 Ave A to investigate a disturbance.  As officers arrived people and vehicles were fleeing the area, which included a red  Pontiac Grand Am that had smoke coming from the windows.

The preliminary investigation shows the 26 year old man was inside the car when an unknown explosive went off, seriously injuring his right hand.

Police are still looking for the driver and the car.  Firefighters took the injured man to Nebraska Medicine. Officers did cite a 21 year old man and three juveniles for disorderly conduct in connection with the original disturbance call.
