Zoo Searching For Missing Bird

Bird watchers might want to bust out the binoculars and head outdoors to catch a glimpse of a bird not normally found in Nebraska trees.

The Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is looking for Cayenne, a green winged macaw who went missing Sunday morning during a scheduled zoo program.

Cayenne appeared to be startled when a blimp flew over the College World Series during the 11:00 'Birds in Flight' program at the zoo. The program takes place in the Meadowlark Theater and demonstrates trained behavior and flight patterns in resident birds.

Zoo staff believes she could be sitting in a tree south of the zoo as far away as Bellevue.

If you see Cayenne, do not touch her, just call zoo staff at 402-676-2680 immediately.
