Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse took to Facebook on Monday to share his thoughts on the Trump Administration's policy of separating children from their parents at the US/Mexico border.
In the post, Sasse stated that the policy being enforced is "wicked" and should not be the default policy of the United States. He goes on to describes the current policy as a reaction against a "bad old policy," where people took advantage of asylum seeker laws to get into the U.S. and then didn't show up to follow up hearings to determine the legitimacy of their asylum claims.
Sasse blames the problem on past and present failures of Congress to create better laws to address immigration reform and that the President must end this policy immediately.
