It was an early wake up call for thousands of metro area residents Saturday morning. Strong thunderstorms knocked out power to thousands across the area
Tree limbs toppled and some traffic lights were reported out. The Omaha Public Power District reported as many as 6,000 customers without power during the peak of the outage.
By 5:30 a.m. the outages had been reduced to approximately 3,800 but OPPD said as the wind continued and more customers wake up to realize they are without power, “we expect outage numbers will fluctuate.”
Outages have also been reported in Pottawattamie County.
