An 11 year old boy was rushed to the hospital late Friday morning after he was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross Leavenworth Street just east of Saddle Creek.
Sergeant Doug Klein says Cali Machado was crossing Leavenworth attempting to go to the QT store. He was not crossing at an intersection or crosswalk. He made it to the center median before stepping into the westbound lanes. He was struck by a 2002 Dodge mini van that was travelling in the curb lane.
Machado suffered a leg and facial injury that are not considered life threatening. The driver of the van, 38 year old Jill Kresl, was cited for no insurance.
