Summer Arts Festival Takes Over Gene Leahy Mall This Weekend

Over 130 professional artists will travel from across the country to showcase their work in Downtown Omaha during the Omaha Summer Arts Festival.

Since its inception in 1975, millions of art lovers have attended the festival. The tradition continues with OSAF’s 44th festival June 8-10 in Downtown Omaha. Attendees will be able to browse work from hundreds of artists, grab a drink in the world music pavilion while they listen to local musicians or try their hand at creating their own masterpieces.

The World Music Pavilion at the festival presents a full lineup of fifteen free concerts, street performers and live art shows throughout the three day event.

Festival attendees of all ages can explore their own artistic abilities by choosing from a selection of DIYprojects offered through local crafting business, The Makery. Participants can harness inspiration from the creative atmosphere and make a masterpiece of their own. Crafts are priced at $15 each and include making a hanging succulent planting, string art, felt flower pen or modern yarn hanging.

OSAF will open an hour earlier Saturday and Sunday with the CenturyLink Artists’ Market hours being 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 8; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 9; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 10.

If you plan on parking in downtown, be sure to save yourself a couple bucks by snagging a special promo code for the Park Omaha app. That code and more information can be found by visiting the Summer Arts Festival website here
