Storm Cleanup Underway In Blair

Blair residents are cleaning up after the community was battered by strong thunderstorms late Friday night.  Broken tree limbs litter the streets and a tree debris cleanup declaration has been issued by the city.

Chainsaws have been a common site around the town as wood piles began stacking up.  The city issued the following declaration Saturday concerning down tree limbs.

Because of the numerous tree branches and limbs from Friday night’s severe storm, City of Blair residents are authorized to place tree limbs and tree branches in the City right of way. Please do not block the public sidewalk or allow branches or limbs to protrude into the street. All tree branches and limbs should be placed in the right of way by 6:00 a.m. Monday morning.

City of Blair employees will begin to collect tree branches and limbs left in the right of way beginning Monday morning, June 4th. Once City employees have picked up tree branches and limbs along a street, residents should take tree branches and limbs to the City’s tree pile, located at 460 S. 3rd Ave.

City officials urge residents to not leave other types of debris, such as construction lumber, broken furniture and other similar items.  City employees will not pick them up.

No other tree debris drop-off locations have been approved. Residents are advised to not leave tree branches and limbs in the parking lot at the Youth Sports Complex.
