Open Door Mission In Desperate Need Of Bottled Water

After a brutally hot weekend, the Open Door Mission is in desperate need of bottled water.

Open Door Mission President/CEO Candace Gregory says in this hot weather, homeless people are at greater risk for dehydration. "Open Door Mission has become a go-to place for our neighbors on the streets to simply stop by and get hydrated. Sometimes we can cover those needs with the water we serve in our water stations around the campus., but many times people stop by, take care of that first level need to re-hydrate, and leave only partially hydrated."

Gregory says bottled water can save lives in the heat. "Often a simple bottle of water sent with them could give them additional protection that could prevent heat stroke or heat exhaustion -- or guard them from the effects of dehydration no matter the outside temperature. We need as many packages of bottled water as the community can spare in the next three days to catch up with the current bottled water deficit in this hot weather."

Bottled water donations can be dropped of at any Open Door Mission Family Outreach Center.
