Law enforcement and a railroad company are hoping the public can help them track down whoever keeps leaving large debris on train tracks in Bellevue.
When it comes railways and the fast moving trains that travel them, it goes without saying: any unexpected roadblocks can be downright dangerous for the powerful, fast-moving trains that criss-cross our country, and that is why Bellevue Police Sgt. Andy Jashinske tells 6 News the public's help is being sought. "In one incident in Bellevue, some of the debris damaged the train."
Since May 14th, police have responded to multiple reports of large debris being placed in the middle of tracks in both Bellevue and Omaha.
Jashinske says it's obvious these incidents are not an accident. "This is clearly a situation where it's not the rising river water or it's not just something falling onto the tracks, but clearly, this is an intentional act that's occurring,."
Police are not disclosing what the debris actually is and where exactly it was all located, but they are asking the public to call in any suspicious activity on or near metro tracks.
Local police do have extra patrols going along area tracks, but it is the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Police Department that's heading up the investigation.
