A tragic accident injured a six year old Council Bluffs girl. At 8:33 a.m., the girl was being dropped off at Hoover Elementary School at 1205 N. Broadway. The vehicle she was in pulled up to the drop-off driveway on the south side of the school building. Investigators believe she may have dropped something while getting out. When the girl crouched down, the vehicle that dropped her off pulled away. The next vehicle in line did not see the child, struck and ran over her.
The girl was rushed to a hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle that struck her has been identified as 73 year old Bonnie Conner of Council Bluffs. The accident is currently under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
Council Bluffs police would like to remind motorists to pay special attention around school areas and places that children gather and play.
