Man Who Survived Sexual Abuse On Cross Country Run

A Florida man who survived sexual abuse as a child is hoping to make a difference for other victims by raising money during a 3,000-mile run across the country.

Christian Griffith made it to Omaha on Monday as he continues his run that began in New York City in March.  Griffith is running about 30 miles a day five days a week.  He will end his journey on August 23 in San Francisco.

The avid marathon runner was inspired to make the cross-country trek after he began therapy to start his recovery from the sexual abuse he experienced, first at the hands of his mother, then by a number of men while in his teens.

With therapy, Griffith says he was able to open up about the abuse he endured and he hopes to inspire others to seek help.   "Treatment has saved my life and I want other people to have that same opportunity," Griffith tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB.  "There an army of us out there who have been abused,  and we don't really talk about it much, so I'm out here talking about it and I'm talking about it loudly.

His goal is to raise $1 million to fight and prevent child abuse.  To make a donation click here:
