Bus Too Tall For Council Bluffs Railroad Bridge

Three people were taken to the hospital late Wednesday morning after a small transit bus crashed into a train trestle on Big Lake Road in Council Bluffs.

Police say the bus was too tall to make it under the bridge and the top of the bus was severely damaged. The back of the bus was ripped off after impact.  The bus was owned by Notre Dame Housing, an assisted living facility in Omaha.

There were six people, including the driver, on board.  All had minor injuries.  Three of them were treated at the hospital.  The driver of the bus was issued a citation.  Six months ago today a similar accident happened at the same location.

on November 16, 2017, another bus ran into trouble at the same bridge, which is only eight feet, eight inches.
