House Fire Sparked By Extension Cord

The Omaha Fire Department says the improper use of an extension cord sparked a house fire Monday night.

When crews approached the home near 27th and Poppleton around 10:00, they reported nothing showing. Upon further investigation, they could see smoke coming from the second story. One person was home and told fire crews that their dogs were still in the basement.

Fire crews rescued four dogs from the structure and four adults were displaced. No injuries were reported. The blaze caused roughly $25,000 in damage.
