Bomb Threat At Bellevue West High School

There were some anxious moments for parents Tuesday morning after a bomb threat forced the evacuation of Bellevue West High School.

Bellevue Police Sergeant Andy Jashinske says a school secretary received the phone threat around 9:30. Police immediately evacuated students and staff from the building. The students were placed in groups and sent to safe locations around the school.

The Omaha Police Department Bomb Response Team was called in to sweep the school.  Offutt Air Force base also provided dogs to search the building. Just before 12:00 noon the all clear was given and the students were allowed back inside.

Principal Kevin Rohlfs told parents gathered outside "We're going to get all the kids back into their advisory classroom so we can get attendance taken.  We're going to have lunch here, get everybody fed and we'll check students out as we get everybody settled in."
