Lightning To Blame For Bellevue House Fire

An early morning Bellevue house fire is being blamed on the spectacular light show in the sky.

As Saturday morning’s stormy weather rumbled through the metro a lightning strike near 29th and Lynwood Drive sparked the house fire around 4:30.

Crews on scene told 6 News that the fast-moving fire completely engulfed the house because the lightning hit a natural gas source in the home, igniting the blaze. Everyone inside the home made it out safely, but the home was heavily damaged.

The Red Cross is on hand to help the family.
