Agriculture Secretary To Visit Nebraska

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue is embarking on his fourth “Back to Our Roots” tour next week and his tour will include a stop in Nebraska. The purpose of the tour is to hear ideas and concerns from local farmers, ranchers, community leaders and U.S. Department of Agriculture employees.

The tour will run Monday through Thursday and includes stops in New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska. Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts will join Perdue to tour Ackerman Ag Service and Supply in Alliance on Thursday.

Secretary Perdue says the tour is a chance to escape Washington and meet face to face with America's farmers and ranchers. “We want to take our message directly to the American people and give them an opportunity to express their ideas and concerns. As Congress and the Administration continue their work on important issues like rural infrastructure, trade, and the Farm Bill, USDA stands ready to give the agriculture community a voice.”
