Racist and anti-Semitic posters have been appearing in central Omaha, which is causing big concern for residents in the neighborhood.
Reports of the fliers have cropped up over the last few days with most of them coming from the Dundee-Memorial Park neighborhood. Darin Kiel lives near UNO, where one of the fliers was found, and tells 6 News he is disgusted to see something like this happening in Omaha. "Flyers like this are neither honest nor rational, they push people’s emotional buttons, they intimidate the targets and play on the fear and prejudice of other people, there is nothing good that comes out of this.”
Omaha Police reportedly know about the fliers, but say filing a police report about the them is difficult. Because no direct threats have been made, police say the flyers technically fall into the free speech category, but they will continue to monitor any new developments.
Anyone who sees one of these fliers is encouraged to report it to the Mayor’s Hotline at 402-444-5555 and the Anti-Defamation League.
