Man Injured In Officer Involved Shooting Released From Omaha Hospital

A man accused of leading police on a high speed chase before being shot by an officer is out of the hospital and in jail.

Council Bluffs Police say on Sunday, 28 year old Clifton Wade was released from an Omaha hospital where he'd been receiving treatment for injuries sustained in a May 1st police pursuit.

Once being medically discharged, Wade was taken into custody by the Omaha Police Department and was booked into the Douglas County Jail as a Fugitive from Justice. Proceedings will begin immediately to have Wade returned back to Iowa.

Authorities say Wade led officers on a pursuit on southbound I‐29 before intentionally ramming two Council Bluffs police cruisers. The officer in the second cruiser that was struck fired his service weapon nine times, hitting Wade three times.

After he is returned to Iowa, he will face two charges of Attempted Murder of a Peace Officer, one count of Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer and Felony Eluding.  Additional charges are pending and remain under investigation.
