Thousands of people are descending on the Omaha metro for the annual Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders Meeting this weekend and their weekend will be jam-packed with events.
Events got underway Friday afternoon and will go late into the evening on Sunday. To kick off the weekend shareholders get an extended afternoon of shopping at the CenturyLink Center. Shareholders also get a special shopping experience at Borsheim's Friday night at their exclusive shareholder cocktail party. Adrienne Fey with Borsheim's says those lucky enough to attend the party will have the chance to buy some rare pieces. "We find that those shareholders who are really big Warren aficionados love something with his signature on it. It speaks to that shareholder who loves jewelry and loves Mr. Buffett."
The highlight of the weekend is the formal business meeting on Saturday, which features The Oracle of Omaha himself, Warren Buffett. Buffett and long-time partner Charlie Munger will field questions from shareholders during the hours long meeting. Saturday evening, after the meeting, Nebraska Furniture Mart will open their doors to invite shareholders in check out the goods and enjoy food and live entertainment.
The weekend comes to a close on Sunday with the Brooks 5-K in the morning, a Borsheim's brunch and steak dinner at one of Warren's favorite haunts, Gorat's. Expect to see an influx of people around town this weekend due to the meeting as about 40,000 are expected to attend. You can find full details about the meeting and surrounding events here.
