Three In Custody After Police Pursuit, Crash In Old Mill

Omaha Police say a report of people using drugs led to a high speed pursuit that ended in a crash near 108th and Nicholas late Friday morning.

Lt. Jerry Swanson says the incident began around 11:30 near 108th and Ida. Officers were called there to investigate a report of people smoking marijuana in a vehicle.  The arriving officers found the suspects there and the suspects fled.

The ensuing chase went south from Ida on 108th Street to the Old Mill area, about four and a half miles.  At times speeds reached more than 80 miles per hour.  The suspects' vehicle ran a red light at Blondo before striking a panel truck and an SUV.

The car then slammed into a pole near 108th and Nicholas. A woman was arrested and two men were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries from the crash. Charges are pending against all three.
