Lincoln Man Behind Bars In Iowa After Evading Police For More Than A Week

It's the end of the road for one Lincoln man who had managed to elude police for over a week.

After a week and a half on the run, Brian Gouge was arrested in Sioux City where police found him in a car stolen from Omaha.

Gouge's troubles started on April 22nd when Lincoln Police got a call from Gouge's cousin around 5:30 PM. She told police she had been giving 34 year old Gouge a ride and when she stopped to use the restroom and he took off in her Dodge Avenger.

Around 10:30 that same night, dispatch had a report of several shots fired near 23rd and Dudley. Witnesses told officers that Gouge had been there arguing with family members at that location about money. Several shots were fired and shell casings were found nearby.

Then just before midnight, several shots were fired near 52nd and Randolph and more casings were found.

Shortly after midnight, Gouge's cousin told police she had borrowed a car to go look for her Avenger and while checking places her cousin was known to frequent, she found him in an alley on S. 12th Street. She yelled out the window at him and told police he responded by firing four to five gunshots. The borrowed car she was driving was hit, but no one was hurt.

On April 26th, a judge signed an arrest warrant for Gouge citing Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, Use of a Firearms to Commit a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person and Theft.

Around 2:00 Wednesday afternoon, US Marshals and the Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force arrested Gouge in Sioux City where they'd tracked him down in possession of that car stolen from Omaha.
