Columbus Woman Killed In Saunders County Crash

A Columbus woman was killed in a two vehicle crash Thursday night in Saunders County.  The Sheriff's Office says it happened just before 10:00 p.m. at the southwest corner of the village of Prague.

Investigators say the woman was driving east on County Road R and didn't stop for the stop sign at the Highway 79 intersection. A pickup truck headed south on the highway struck the driver's side of her vehicle.

37 year old Jennifer Abernathy was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, 19-year-old Lakota Marvin, was flown to a Lincoln hospital for treatment.

The pickup driver, 30 year old Chad Kreikemeier of Weston, Nebraska, was taken to a hospital for treatment and then released.  Investigators said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
