Woman Arrested For Making Threats Against Nebraska City Schools

A Nebraska City woman who was arrested during a school lock down in Nebraska City Thursday had made threats at a business in town, but authorities say she didn't have a role in threats against the school.

Authorities now say a student was detained after authorities got a hold of the cell phone the threats came from.

Just after 10:00 Thursday morning, Otoe County Dispatch received a call from an unknown female claiming to be at Arbor Lodge and threatening to shoot a middle school teacher.

While police were at the middle school, the caller called again and his time, the dispatcher heard an announcement that the school was in lockout. An astute officer realized that the middle school was on lock down, not lockout, and suggested that the call must have originated from the high school. A female student was taken into custody in connection to this call.

Authorities say there was never an active shooter or anyone inside the schools with a weapon. The incident remains under investigation.
