Man Wanted For Firing Shots In Belleuve Arrested In Iowa

Bellevue police said a man they say was involved in three different shots fired incidents was arrested near Hamburg, Iowa Wednesday morning after a high speed pursuit.

It began Tuesday afternoon when a resident confronted a driver who was driving fast through the neighborhood. The resident allegedly got into a vehicle and followed the driver to the intersection of Harlan Drive at Westridge Avenue. 

The resident told police the driver pulled a gun and fired shots at his vehicle. The resident received minor scratches from glass breakage but was otherwise not injured.

Later Tuesday evening, Bellevue Police responded to Paradise Lakes regarding another shooting investigation. The victim told officers a suspect shot at him while he was picking up mail on the north side of the complex. The victim suffered a minor graze wound but did not have any other injuries. 

Officers in the Paradise Lakes area spotted a vehicle matching the description around 3:30 Wednesday morning.  Police say the man drove by the officers while firing shots from the vehicle. The officers were not struck by any rounds.

The vehicle then crossed into Iowa. Tabor, Iowa Police initiated a pursuit but the suspect was eventually taken into custody after the vehicle crashed into the Nishnabotna River near Hamburg, Iowa 

The suspect vehicle was determined to be a blue Chevrolet Malibu with no license plates. The suspect, identified as William Stanfill, is being held at the Fremont County Jail in Iowa. 

An Iowa State trooper joining the pursuit was seriously injured after crashing his cruiser.  William Stanfill is facing several charges.  Police also arrested 37 year old Jacqueline Streich.  Both are being held on $1 million bond.  Both are facing a series of charges, including attempted murder of a peace officer.
