Some residents of Washington County are again making sure their voices are heard.
A large group of residents came together Friday night to rally against six proposed chicken farms in Washington County. The farms would provide 190,000 chickens every six weeks to the Costco processing plant in Fremont.
Justin Novak tells 6 News, he doesn't want that to happen. "We just need to put these things in the proper location," said Novak.
Case and Joscelyn Camenzind were going to build their chicken farm near Highway 133 and P30 but pulled out after the Washington County Planning Commission voiced their disapproval earlier this month.
"I'm not the bad guy here. I wasn't trying to build it in the middle of the neighborhood. I didn't know it was future zone," said Case.
Even though the Camezine family isn't pursuing that lot, Novak still worries about a possibility in the decrease of property values for homes and landowners. "It also is about other sites, Washington County, the future and what it's going to look like," said Novak.
The Washington County Board of Supervisors will meet on Tuesday and decide the fate of the five other proposed chicken farms.
