Police Still Looking For Information In City's Most Recent Homicide

Police are still searching for answers in the shooting death of a 21 year old Omaha woman.

Authorities say just before 5:00 Wednesday afternoon, emergency crews found Kayviaun Nelson in the parking lot of the Walmart near 99th and Blair High Road. Nelson was in her SUV when she was fatally shot. Nelson's SUV hit an empty truck in the lot after she was shot. She was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition and later died from her injuries.

Police are now trying to piece together what led up to the shooting in the parking lot. While at the scene Wednesday evening, OPD Lt. Amy Oetter said, "This may have come from a different part of town and come to a head here at this location."

After the incident, police were looking for a 2001 bronze Chevy Malibu that was possibly linked to the shooting. Officer Michael Pecha tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB that they have since located that vehicle but still have not located any suspects.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Omaha Crime Stoppers at 402-444-STOP. Tips leading to the identification and arrest of a homicide suspect are eligible for a $25,000 reward.
