A Colorado man is behind bars in Nebraska after being busted with nearly 2,000 pounds of marijuana in Fillmore County.
Nebraska State Patrol officials say just before 6:00 on Wednesday, a trooper saw a 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van driving on the shoulder of Highway 81 near Geneva. The trooper pulled the van over, and during the traffic stop a K9 detected the smell of drugs inside the van.
Troopers searched the van and found 1,853 pounds of marijuana, 8,779 doses of hash oil vape pens and 46 pounds of hash wax. The street value of the drugs is estimated at more than $5 million.
The driver, 39 year old Michael Cardis of Arvada, Colorado, was arrested on a number of charges, including Possession of More than One Pound of Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Deliver and No Drug Tax Stamp.
