Local Retailers Offer Younkers Employees Jobs

Now that both Younkers stores in Omaha will be closing, other companies are trying to lessen the blow for employees who will lose their jobs.  A number of other retailers and hospitality companies have offered jobs including, Kohl's, Cabela's, Greenberg's Jewelers and the Magnolia Hotel.

Greenberg's Jewelers Director of Operations, Brian Maas, says they are looking to get some of the Younkers workers through their doors. "We're a family owned business and we wanna reach out if they have some people that might be interested. We're always looking to hire some great people."

Maas says they have several positions available at all eight of their stores in the Midwest and encourages Younkers employees to get the process started right away. "I know they have a date in June, but a lot of times they actually close earlier. I would have them come down and start the process now."

Magnolia Hotel General Manager, Tim Darby, echoed Maas' sentiments saying they will also help employees find new jobs. "We looked at Younkers as having some great hospitality professionals in doing what they do. So, I had asked my HR manager to reach out and offer some assistance."

Darby says they have a number of positions that would be in line with similar jobs duties at Younkers, so they would be happy to help. "Perfect opportunity for us to help them out and soften the blow, so to speak." Anyone interested in a position can apply in person, call or check for job postings online.
